Artfully Bourbon / October 7, 2026Seven years in toasted American oak, the third barrel in a nine-barrel project is now an online-only release.
Photo Credit: Barrell BourbonSeven years is a substantial stretch of additional maturation for bourbon that was already 15 years old. That is the draw behind Barrell Craft Spirits’ new 22-Year-Old Toasted Single Barrel, announced for an October 7 online release.
According to Barrell’s announcement, the project began during production of its first 15-Year-Old Gray Label Bourbon in 2018. A portion of that blend went into nine custom American oak barrels toasted to the company’s specifications. The first barrel was released in 2024, the second in 2025, and this is the third. Barrell says it will release the remaining six annually. The company also describes the new release on its official website.

Why it matters
This series lets you follow separate barrels drawn from the same original blend as they mature. Barrell’s product page documents the previous 20- and 21-year expressions. The shared starting point makes the progression interesting, although different single barrels mean it is not a controlled test of age alone.
The AB take
The key question is whether this long maturation appeals to your palate enough to justify $230. We haven't tasted this release, so we cannot tell you whether that extra time adds balance or more oak than you want.
For drinkers already interested in older, toasted bourbon, this has a clear reason to earn attention. Buy for that interest, rather than the pressure of a 165-bottle count.
