The new 1792 Wheated Full Proof sounds like a natural addition to the lineup, especially for fans of higher-proof wheated bourbon. But there's a catch. It's launching in just five states, and only in 375mL bottles.

Bottled at its original barrel-entry proof, the new expression promises more intensity than the original Sweet Wheat. According to Barton 1792, that means richer caramel, vanilla, and fruit notes, with more oak and a longer finish.
The 375mL format is an interesting choice. At $39.99, it's an easier way to try something new, although that works out to nearly $80 for the equivalent of a standard 750mL bottle.
The AB take
We've said it before: high-proof Barton whiskey is where it's at. We have our own feelings about the 1792 brand, but when they turn up the proof, they tend to get our attention.
We're curious to see what happens when Sweet Wheat gets the Full Proof treatment. We'll definitely be looking for a bottle to find out.
