The anniversary offers two different draws: an all-pot-still whiskey for drinkers and a ceramic Double Oaked release for collectors.

Woodford Reserve’s 30th anniversary gives bourbon drinkers a chance to explore a defining part of its production: whiskey distilled entirely through the distillery’s three copper pot stills. For collectors, a separate release pairs a Double Oaked single barrel selected by Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall with a Louisville Stoneware ceramic decanter, limited to 150.

The releases mark three decades since Woodford Reserve’s October 1996 introduction. The distillery gift shop launched Triple Pot Still on October 7. The decanter release follows on October 16, exclusively at the distillery.

“From the beginning of the brand, Woodford Reserve has enticed consumers by our unique bottle design and our flavorful liquid, featuring more than 200 flavor notes,” McCall said.

Why it matters

Woodford describes the brand’s approach as marrying pot-still and column-distilled whiskey. This release puts the pot-still component on its own, giving the anniversary a production story beyond commemorative packaging.

The two releases also ask buyers to make different decisions. Triple Pot Still offers a distinct expression at a disclosed price, though $65 buys a half-size bottle. The decanter’s appeal includes the ceramic piece and McCall’s barrel selection, but its undisclosed price leaves collectors without a key part of the buying equation.

The AB take

Triple Pot Still is the more compelling lead for readers curious about how bourbon is made. Its production gives us a reason to pay attention; we haven't tasted it, so we cannot say whether that distinction justifies the asking price.

For the decanter, confirm pricing and remaining stock before planning a visit. A 150-piece limit establishes scarcity. The purchase still needs to make sense for your shelf and budget.
