Holladay Distillery has reached a new milestone. The historic Weston, Missouri distillery has announced Ben Holladay 10 Year Bourbon, the oldest bourbon released in its 170-year history.

The limited release arrives Saturday, October 17, marking a significant moment for a distillery that resumed bourbon production in 2016. After a decade of patience, Holladay is finally ready to show what its whiskey can do with 10 years in the barrel.

What to know

  • Whiskey: Ben Holladay 10 Year Bourbon
  • Age: 10 Years
  • Proof: 111 (55.5% ABV)

Why it matters

Ten-year age statements carry weight, particularly for smaller distilleries that have spent the past decade rebuilding their bourbon programs.

For Holladay, this release represents more than another limited bottle. It's an opportunity to experience how its original bourbon mash bill develops with additional time in the barrel.

Unlike many highly allocated releases, bourbon enthusiasts have a clear opportunity to buy this one directly from the distillery. Quantities are limited, however, and there's no guarantee how long bottles will last.

The AB take

We're pretty freakin excited about this one. We've been fans of what Holladay has been doing, and we've been looking forward to the chance to taste its oldest bourbon yet.

At $125, this isn't a cheap bottle. But do a few more years in the barrel make it worth the price? That's what we're excited to find out.

We'll be at Holladay on Saturday picking up our bottles. Expect a full Artfully Bourbon review soon, where we'll share our thoughts on the whiskey, whether it's worth the money, and what you might expect from future releases.
