The $75–$100 range is where bourbon starts to get serious. At this price, you are usually paying for more age, higher proof, smaller batches, barrel-strength releases, unique finishes, or something meant to feel a little more special. And with that comes higher expectations. Pretty good is no longer good enough.

To find the best bourbon and American whiskey between $75 and $100 in 2026, we went back through the bottles we have reviewed, compared, and tasted and picked the ones we think actually justify the price. Instead of ranking them one through ten, we chose the best whiskey for ten different roles, including the best everyday pour, best bottle to drink neat, best high-proof bourbon, best value, best hidden gem, and our overall favorite.

Plenty of good bottles fall in this price range, but not all are worth spending close to $100 on. This is our 2026 shelf: bottles with enough flavor, character, or uniqueness to make us want to bring them home again.

Why It Won: Stagg brings together just about everything we want from a barrel-proof bourbon: huge flavor, balance, richness, and enough oak to give it depth. The dark cherry, chocolate, brown sugar, and charred oak profile makes it feel bigger and older than many bottles in this price range. When you can actually find one at a reasonable price, it is hard to beat.
Buy If: You want one of the best barrel-proof bourbon experiences available and are willing to do a little hunting to find it near $100.

Our Take

The $75–$100 range is where expectations get high. Too many great bottles cost less, so don't pass on a whiskey just because it has more age, higher proof, a unique finish, or a premium label. At this price, it needs to deliver something meaningful.

That does not mean every bottle has to be rare, allocated, or overly complicated. Some of our favorites are bottles we can actually find, replace, and keep coming back to. Others earn their place because they offer something genuinely different that we cannot get for $50.

Every bottle on this list earned its spot for a different reason, but they all have one thing in common: we think they justify spending $75 to $100. Once you get this close to $100, it matters.
